  "DANCES FROM THE MOVIES" SERIES

This series does what it says on the can. You can try out well-known dances from the movies and find out what it's like to dance like John Travolta or rock to The Blues Brothers. Where specific steps are seen in the film, we will stick to these. Where few or no steps accompany the songs, Every Dance has choreographed style-applicable moves.

"Slumdog Millionaire"
One of the most popular films of 2009, this movie produced a buzz about its dance and music as much as it did about its Oscar successes. If you'd like to preview some of the moves you can view them on You Tube. All moves from the movie are used, plus some extra ones.

"Pulp Fiction"
If you've ever seen the film you'll remember the dance competition that Mia (Uma Thurman) and Vincent (John Travolta) win, because Travolta has never oozed so much cool! The steps are easy to learn, but the 'effortlessly cool' part may take a little longer to acquire. In the meantime you'll have terrific fun with this one. Come dressed up if you like. Only moves from the movie are used.

"Saturday Night Fever (Line Dance)"
This one's easy to learn and fun to do at a '70s disco - especially if you wear the white suit! Only moves from the movie are used.

"Saturday Night Fever (Solo Dance)"
This was Travolta's big scene in the movie and made even the funky chicken (the name of an actual move!) look good. There's a lot of pointing in this one! Only moves from the movie are used, but we offer modified alternatives for difficult moves.

"Mamma Mia!"
This is a blockbuster movie if ever there was one. If you like Abba, or the '70s, or cheesy disco, this is a great workshop. You can learn moves to both Mamma Mia and to Dancing Queen, or choose just one of them. There are very few full dance routines in the movie, so we've picked out single moves and put them together with '70s choreography.

"The Blues Brothers"
Great music, great pace and a lot of laughs - The Blues Brothers has them all. Come along wearing the black hat and tie if you like, or just sweatpants and trainers. You'll have a great time either way. There aren't whole dance routines in this film so we've added choreography to the song 'Shake Your Tailfeathers'.

"Grease"
A hugely enjoyable, nostalgic taste of '50s Americana. Learn routines to "Greased Lightening" and "Summer Loving", including the Hand Jive.

"Hannah Montana"
We're toe-tapping to the catchy 'Hoedown Throwdown' in this routine where the lyrics tell you which move comes next. Only moves from the movie are used.

"Hairspray"
Learn the Madison Time from the 1980s original version of the film, plus 'Ladies Choice' and 'Can't Stop The Beat' from the newer version with John Travolta. Only moves from the movie are used.

Any of the routines can be put together. For example, a 'Travolta Special', or a 'Mix 'n Match Movies Special'.

We will be adding to this series of workshops continually, so please keep an eye out for our new additions.
