  "LATIN FLAVOURS" SERIES

"Latin Flavours" series of workshops. The tremendously popular styles of New York salsa, Cuban salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Merengue, Bachata, and other Latin dances make up this series of workshops.

"Rueda Casino - Cuban Salsa"
Rueda Casino is Cuban salsa danced with a progression of partners, in a circle. Someone calls a move and every couple performs it at the same time, creating flowing and ever-changing patterns. It's a stunning form of dance that, once you've learned the moves, can be joined in anywhere in the world where La Rueda is danced.

"Cuban Salsa"
Cuban Salsa is danced freestyle (as well as in a Rueda circle), and this workshop will teach you the moves which will make you shine on the dance floor.

"Salsa"
This is New York style Salsa. Here you'll learn the Basic Latin, Cucaracha, Back Basic, Ladies' turn, and other steps.

"Cha Cha"
The Cha Cha has to be one of the most popular forms of Latin dance outside of Salsa. It has been part of the British consciousness for decades, and a great favourite to dance at weddings and big occasions. It's the Latin dance that is more fun than sexy, and can be danced to very un-Latin music. You can mix the basic steps into modern jive, disco, street dance, or any form of freestyle. They really are that flexible. Everyone should have Cha-Cha'd before they die!

"Samba"
Samba is fun and 'springy' - and for those of you old enough to remember Carmen Miranda, you don't have to wear fruit in your hair (though it's optional)! For those not old enough to remember Carmen, just come along and have a great time. We'll even show you how to adapt samba steps to hip-hop and freestyling disco. How Samba-tastic is that?!

"Merengue"
Merengue is a fantastic dance form for those people who have a hard time co-ordinating feet and arms simultaneously. Here, your lower body pretty much takes care of itself, as Merengue is certainly the easiest of the Latin dances to learn foot-wise. That leaves most of your concentration free to learn the arm patterns, which look stylish even when they're simple. It's a wonderful introduction to Latin dance if you've never tried any before.

"Rumba"
Although people disagree on the origins - not to mention the spelling of Rumba - they do agree that it's one of the sultriest of the Latin dances. Unlike the basic Salsa, Mambo, and Samba steps, Rumba has a 'box' as it's basic. Which is what you'll learn in this workshop, along with basic under arm turns and side steps. So wind your hips up and get ready to Rumba!

"Bachata"
This is another wonderful latino dance from the Dominican Republic. The music has a strong, uplifting beat, and you'll often find this danced at Salsa evenings.

"Latin Moves"
This workshop teaches a mixture of Latin moves including mambo, salsa, and samba and shows how to 'dance together separately', how to dance a basic partner dance, and how to dance solo freestyle to Latin music.

"Latin Mix"
This is a fiery, Latin workshop where it doesn't matter whether you're a complete beginner or have been dancing for years. You won't need a partner, either, because all the moves can be done solo. We kick off with an original Salsa routine, followed by a frenetic go at Carnival Samba - the kind that's danced at Mardi Gras. Bringing up the rear is a Cha Cha Cha routine to round things off.
You'll need plenty of water to keep you going, and a way to stop your laughter muscles cramping during the Samba. Otherwise, you're ready to go. And may the God of Latin dance be with you!
