"JUMPIN JIVE" SERIES
"Jumpin' Jive" series of workshops
Modern jive is the fast-track to learning partner dance. Because you don't really have to worry about what your feet are doing, you can learn the basic moves relatively quickly, and start mixing and matching them. A great introduction to partner dance.
"Jumpin' Jive (The Basics)"
This workshop will teach you the fundamentals of Modern Jive, including 'The Basic', 'The Hand Jive', 'The Octopus', 'The Catapult' and several more.
"Jumpin' Jive (Improvers)"
The moves you'll learn in this workshop are still relatively simple, but build on the basic moves of the first workshop. (Two teachers are needed for this workshop).
"Jumpin' Jive (Intermediates)"
The moves in this workshop are for people who have already mastered the basics of modern jive.
(Two teachers are needed for this workshop).
"Jumpin' Jive (With A Twist of Latin)"
The moves in this workshop are for people who have already mastered the basics of modern jive. They incorporate many Latin move variations.
(Two teachers are needed for this workshop).
"Lindyhop"
Lindyhop is the original form of jive. Born in the black ghettos of 1920s America, and imported to Britain via the GIs during World War II, this is a high-energy, joyful dance that will make you buzz.
"Rock n Roll"
The 1950s saw the heyday of rock 'n roll in Britain, with the likes of Elvis, Jerry-Lee Lewis and Bill Hayley bringing 'new sounds' to the post-war era. A form of jive still popular today.
Note: The term SWINGDANCE means many different things to many different people. It's sometimes an alternative name for Lindyhop or Rock 'n Roll, or can be a form of jive with local variations specific to a region (West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Ballroom and Latin Swing, French Swing, etc.) If you are unsure of what kind of jive you're interested in, please ask us.
